ISHARA has started teaching at a number of Deaf schools in Mumbai. The schools are normally follow oral mode of teaching. However, being inspired by Ishara's bilingual philosophy a number of school have invited Ishara to conduct English classes taught by a Deaf teachers using sign language as the mode of communication and English as the second or Written language thus a true bilingual mode of teaching exists in India for the first time in History. Deaf teachers were earlier used to teach vocational education courses such as sewing, knitting, drawing etc but Ishara has proved that Deaf teachers are too able to teach language and other school subjects. For the meantime only English is being taught by Ishara teachers and a number of other courses will also be introduced once proper training is initiated. Let's hope this mission become a role model for the rest of India soon.
